Seattle Rugby Football Club

You and the Seattle Rugby Club

It is the policy of the Seattle Rugby Club Executive Committee to enforce its Compliance Program (including the Code of Play conduct, Team Policy's and individual Compliance Plans) through appropriate disciplinary mechanisms. When a club member is determined to have engaged in a violation of the Compliance Program, he or she may be subject to discipline under this policy, up to and including dismissal from the Club. All violations must be reported to the Executive Committee before a decision is made regarding disciplinary action.

(No single set of disciplinary options is appropriate in every case. The Executive Committee therefore retains the sole discretion to structure discipline on a case-by-case basis as the circumstances warrant. Disciplinary action may encompass a broad range of alternatives from informal counseling to termination of membership. There are, however, certain offenses and violations that are so serious that immediate dismissal is proper in all cases.)

Equal Opportunity. Membership shall not be denied, nor its privileges abridged, by reason of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, political ideology, creed, or presence of any sensory, mental or physical handicap.

Membership

Active-status membership shall be open to any person who supports the purposes of the Club, and who fulfills the following requirements:

Payment of Dues. When the member is in default in the payment of dues, without prior arrangements, for a period of thirty days, their membership shall be terminated, and privileges of club membership shall be forfeited.

Union Membership. Active players must be members of the Local Area Union (PNRFU), the Territorial Union (PCRFU), and the national rugby union (USARFU), in addition to any other Union, for which the Club determines membership to be necessary, and shall complete all paperwork required for individual membership.

Insurance. Personal medical or liability insurance is the responsibility of individual members and is required to play rugby for the club. The Club has the right to refuse to play any member not so insured.

Termination of Membership. The Club reserves the right to withdraw membership from people for two reasons:

Delinquent Member. Any member who is more than two weeks late in paying their dues and assessments is considered delinquent member. A delinquent member may participate in practice sessions, may continue to serve an elected term, and may serve on appointive committees, but they may not represent the club in matches, may not vote at meetings, may not be elected into office, and may attend Club social functions only upon payment of a social fee. Any delinquency restriction shall be removed upon correction of the delinquency involved.

Code of Conduct

Since 1966, the Seattle Rugby Football Club has been dedicated to promoting a standard of excellence for rugby in the Pacific Northwest. Club members shall exemplify the spirit and ideals of rugby in their attitude and in their play. The highest playing standards are expected from each of our players, ensuring a healthy reputation for the Club in the local rugby community as well as throughout the United States. All club members share a responsibility to further the interests of the Club through their athletic and social participation in the Club. Members are responsible for maintaining and building a sense of community within the Club, and are to be ambassadors for the Club, and for the game of rugby, to the public. Any action which brings the Club into disrepute, or is found to be objectionable by another Club member, is subject to review by the Disciplinary Committee. Club members will take considerable efforts to support the Club's sponsors and represent their best interests. These standards include good sportsmanship, adherence to rugby laws and standards, and the proper demeanor on and off the rugby pitch. As such, the following rules shall apply to the conduct of any player and member of the Club.
